Hello,

My printer stop working. There is a  constant "Attention" Light Blinking.  Tried 3 different 85A cartridges (at other printer they working well). Tried to check paper jam inside device. Tried to unplug power cord when printer is on for 3 minutes... Nothing worked.

In Win, it says -change toner cartridge.

Please, help.

Thanks,

Hello @ach5,

Thanks for showing your interest in the HP Forums! I see that the Attention light is flashing on the printer and the computer shows the message "change toner cartridge". Thanks for providing all that detailed information. I would like to help you.

Since the toner worked in another printer all the packing material would be already removed and shouldn't be causing this issue.

Clear out the print queue on the computer. If a job is in the queue with the error message, it might still cause issues.

Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a powered hub or a surge protector) This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.

Check to make sure a piece of paper didn't pull in part way in the tray, blocking any sensors. Remove all the paper and just load the one size.

If the issue persists, remove the toner and use a flashlight to check for any tiny pieces of paper that might be caught and blocking the toner sensor in that area.

I have provided this document to check for a paper jam, cleaning the contacts and resetting the printer: 'Install Black Cartridge'.

Are you using a Genuine HP Toner?

Let me know if those steps worked for you. You can select the "Accept as Solution" and the "Thumbs Up" buttons, that’ll help us and others see that we’ve got the answers! Good Luck!

Hi @ach5,

Are you using Genuine HP Toner?

When you turn the printer on, do the rollers move?

You can try the steps for the Attention light flashing to see if it may help: Blinking Lights.

If you are still having issues, you can try resetting the printer, but if the printer is on a network it will need to be setup again.

  • Turn the printer off, hold down the wireless button and cancel (x button) while turning the printer back on and don't release the two buttons until the printer stops making noise.

Thanks!

1. yes. Genuine HP Toner

2. rollers don't move.

3. tried that link already. didn't help.

4. if i press 2 buttons and powering on printer, the 2 lights just keep blinking and if i release buttons, it goes to 1 attention light blinking. No sounds at all. Rollers don't move

Thanks for providing that information @ach5.

It looks like a hardware issue with the printer since the rollers aren't even moving.

I would power reset the printer a couple of more times and make sure you are connecting it directly to a wall outlet and try the reset again with the buttons to see if that will help.

If the issue continues, please contact HP Customer Support  to find out what service or trade-in options are available. Fill in the model number and the form to receive a case number for quicker assistance.

Thanks!
