The printer leaves a half inch vertical blank space about two inches from the left edge of the paper. Started to do it intermittently about three weeks ago if multiple pages were printed. Now does it with only two pages. What causes this?

Hello dlemar
Does this occur with any particular application? Also what operating system are you using? Are you able to print a configuration page? Try method two of the following article. It will print the configuration page from the printer panel itself.
If using Windows XP or later you may want to try the HP Print and Scan Doctor. It may find and resolve the issue.

hplaserjetp1102w leaves a blank stripe near the left edge of the page from top to bottom. Previous recommended solutions did not work.
Downloaded HPPSdr.exe
Downloaded HP Print and Scan Doctor
Applied both. Ran a "test print" function. No change.
Downloaded Windows 7 latest version. Printed Config page from Windows 7 control panel. No change.
The printer has this problem regardless of what is being printed. It has always been used with Windows 7.
Looks like this printer shot craps after one year and less that a ream of paper through it.
Any suggestions short of trashing it?
Thanks

I think this could be caused by running out of cartridge. If replacing a new cartridge doesn’t work, it could be caused by some hardware failure, such as fuser.

I had the same problem. But I fixed it!
I first had this problem when I first purchased the printer. It went away after I printed about 5 test pages. Then I had no problem for a few months.
Then the problem came back again. I did all the troubleshooting I could find. Nothing worked.
Finally, I just took out the cartridge and placed the left side (the side that had the blank vertical line) down, and shook it a little. I stuck it back in the printer and it printed perfectly.
VERDICT: toner is not evely distributed in the cartridge. Just shake it a little, and that should do the trick.
Can I get a kudos?!
