The printer will not connect to ANY computer or network!
The Smart Install software does not come up - we have tried this printer with three computers (Win 7) and none of them have installed the driver software. (the printer is on, various firewalls are disabled, Auto Play is turned on, and My Computer is throughouly searched - the printer doesn't show up, except in Devices and Printers, and then it is "offline" with "no pending print jobs")
Using the CD doesn't work: the instructions (for wireless connection) ask us to plug the printer USB into the computer and say we will be instructed to unplug the USB later. We plug it in, the computer goes "dah-duh" but the installation software does not budge, it is still waiting for us to connect the printer.
The config page prints an IPv4 address as 0.0.0.0
I turned off the router and then turned it back on, and then the printer, hoping to establish some connection. Same result.

Hi @CareyBee ,
I read your post and see that you are having issues setting up the printer on the wireless network. I will certainly do my best to help you.
Most likely the printer has already been recognized incorrectly and therefore not allowing the installation to continue.
Check the connections in the Device Manager for any printer entries, under Universal Serial Bus Controllers look for USB Printing Support or anything with a yellow exclamation mark, mass storage device or unknown device. Try and update the driver, if it won't, then right click and uninstall the device/s.
Disregard the title. Go to Solution two: Software troubleshooting. How was the printer listed, please let me know what you had to do or if the printer was even listed.
Disconnect the USB cable.
Run the installation again.
If you are still having issues, make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet and the USB cable is connected directly to the computer. The USB cable shouldn't be longer then 6 feet. Try another USB port on the computer. You might have to try another USB cable.
If there is anything else I can help you with, just let me know.
Have a nice day!
Thank You.

Hello,
Thank you for your reply. I had no time to work on the printer until today, and here is what I did:
I went to the page you linked and read Solution Two
In the Device Manager, the printer does show up, but there are no yellow exclamation marks near any thing, the USB drivers were all up-to-date, and the printer was listed as "working properly" with the "best driver software for you device is already installed" coming up when I clicked "update driver" (same with all the USB drivers)
I disconnected the USB cable for the printer (leaving the power on) and put in the HP installation disk. The same thing as before happened: I seleced "easy install" then I seleced the 1100w Series from the list, then I selected "configure to print over the Wireless Network"
The software installs....
Then a gray box pops up saying "configure to print using USB" with an illustration of the USB cable underneath the instructions:
1. Make sure the device is powered on
2. Connect the USB cable
Note: You will be prompted to disconnect the cable after the wireless connection is extablished.
Underneath this box is a smaller one, titled: "Installing HP LaserJet Professional P1100w Series"
It has a loading bar with the words "Waiting for you to connect the device" over it.
I connect the USB, and....
Nothing happens. I give it several minutes.
The Device Manager reads the printer when I connect it, the computer makes the "bee-boop" sound as it does when I plug in my scanner or camera, but the installation software doesn't budge.
I want to follow Solution Three from the page you linked to, but Step One, part 3 is very unclear to me. It says: "Under Name, click the following programs if they are listed, and then click Uninstall/Change" then before a list of HP software/programs, there is in bold: "Caution, do not remove any files from the following list"
Are the "following programs" that Step 0ne, part 3 tells me to uninstall in that list, and the caution note is simply a part of the screen cap/what I will see in my Uninstall/Change a Program window? Or are the things I DO need to remove anything OTHER than those specific things listed, but are still associated with the printer?
Thank you for your help.

Hi CareyBee,
Sorry to hear you are still having issues with setting up the printer.
The driver is probably installed for the printer and you can print, but we need the full software installed to setup the Wireless on the printer, through the software. Unless you have a WPS button on your router, you can setup the printer this way over the wireless network. Go to Step 2: Connect to the wireless network, select Method one:Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS). Setting Up the Printer for a Wireless Network for the HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer.
Since the printer is listed in the Device Manager properly, (Laserjet P1102w, if listed other wise let me know) check the Devices and Printers to see if the print driver is listed there also for the Laserjet P1102w. Also check Start, All Programs to see if the Laserjet P1102w is also listed. If the software is listed, select the Wireless Configuration Wizard to setup the wireless for the printer.
If any of the above entries are not listed for the printer, go back into the Device Manager, remove the printer entries, Laserjet P1102w and also Mass Storage Device if it is also listed.(if you don't remove the printer from Device Manager, then the printer won't be detected again during the install)
Disconnect the USB cable.
Then go to Start, Computer, right click on the CD drive and open, then click on the uninstall.
Run the CD again, don't connect the USB cable again until prompted.
Please keep me posted.
Thank You.
