The printer has a Front Door Open Error all the time even when the door is closed.  We have tried opening and closing the door repeatedly, installing software updates, and powering off printer as suggested by HP in other forums; none of these fixed the problem.  The only thing that DOES work is when we press down on the top of the printer towards the front.  If we press down continuously, the printer will print.

Clearly we have a problem with the sensor(s).   Is there a way for me to check the sensors and perhaps clean them?  Do they need to be replaced?

Thank you.

Hi @Philly207,

I read your post and see that you are getting a error that the " Front Door is Open". If you press down continuously, the printer will print. I would like to help you out today.

Usually you would get the error 54.XX  when the printer experiences one of the internal sensors.

If you are using a surge protector, remove it. Plug the printer directly into the wall socket.

I don't have any documentation available for where the sensor are, or how to replace them.

I have provided you with a link to the Parts Surfer website and HP Parts Store.

Welcome to HP PartSurfer !

HP Parts Store.

The printer will most likely need to be serviced, you can Contact HP Support for further assistance. Fill in the model number and the form to receive a case number for quicker assistance.
