After every 4 or 5 sheets printed, printer will say cleaning... then show Misprint, press OK.  Any solutions

Hi CU_Printer_Guy,

Have you tried updating to the latest FW? This may help to resolve the misprint issue.

FW update utility link: http://h20566.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/psi/swdDetails/?sp4ts.oid=4337754&sp...

Try the setting below for the printer using the web interface or the hp toolbox.

Default Paper Size: Letter

Default Paper Type: Plain

Tray 1 Size: Any Size

Tray 1 Type: Any Type

Tray 2 Size: Letter

Tray 2 Type: Heavy 111-130g

If issue still persist need to replace pickup roller.

I've had this same "cleaning every 3-4 pages" problem since purchase, without a misprint error. Told by provider and support "That's how they are". Searching the boards it seems there's multiple discusions, with no firm solution. Everything from leaving the door open on the RAM access for cooling to suggesting the paper size in the print driver doesn't match what's being selected in the print job setup?  This can't be by design and is discussed frequently enough HP should have a fix published I just can't find.

I received advice to change the weight and type of paper designated for each tray so that they are different. This certainly seems to have worked. Someone also mentioned that it could be that my 'pick up' roller may need replacing and I also think this may be true and added to the problem. (Settings/System Setup/Paper Setup)

I am not an expert - just relating the answers I received which were great and fixed the issue (apart from my roller still occasionally doesnt pick up the paper).

My main moan for this printer would be that it automatically initially tries to print from Tray 1, which of course is not the main tray! Perhaps they could re-number for future models?

Check your settings in the print driver for the size and type papere in each tray. You should have tray 2 set to whatever size and type paper you use and I would set tray 1 to a size and type paper I never use which should make it default to tray 2. This setting will be in the driver on the computer and not at the printer.

Thank you very much.
