I have the same problem. I have connected the printer to the router via Ethernet, I have set the IP to an IP within range and with Mac 10.7.5 get an error "Unable to Connect to '#.#.#.#' due to error.

Thanks in advance for time

Hi thebissgroup,

What is the IP address assigned to the printer?

Can you type the printers IP address into the Safari address bar, and then open the EWS- Embedded Web Services page of the printer?

Perform the following troubleshooting instructions:

  1. Print Configuration Page or Network report when available.

  2. Now, verify the Status of the Network. If it’s Ready then continue troubleshooting, if it’s not then it’s necessary to check cables, routers, even cold reset.

  3. If the Status is Ready you will need to check out the TCP/IP information.

    • IP Address

    • Subnet Mask

    • Default Gateway

    • IP Config

  4. Make sure is a valid IP Address, for example 169.253.1.192 is not a valid one.

  5. Once this information has been obtained the next step will be to test communication between the printer and the Mac by a Ping.

  6. Verify the information received, look specifically at the % of packet loss, if it’s more than zero, there are problems with the communication, so the next step will be testing a different cables or a direct connection between the Mac and the Printer (only if it’s a G5 or higher).

After days, hours, and a system restore trying to revive my 4050 to no avail.... I found my this solution, and a faulty ethernet cable!
I feel like a tool for wasting time, but I can print! yay! Thanks!

If you mean on the backside of the Printer.

No, there is no light. Nothing.

It looks that the LAN port (RJ45 plug) is a aditional card pluged in the printer.

My cable is OK, I tested it on a other item.
