LaserJet CP1215
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Colour printing appears blurry as if each colour is printing on a different vertical spot. Please see attached.

Toners are still new.  The printer printed OK a week ago and next moment started printing like this.

If you have the printer toolbox software loaded and there should be a function in calibrate the printer, that would be the first thing to try.

It is possible that it is a toner cartridge problem but that would probably be isolatable to one color being out of line with the rest.

If you can print a configuration page that will have color bars on it and you may be able to tell from that which color is the problem.

Hi

Thanks for your reply.  I've done numerous calibrations, but the problem remains.

This printer printed nearly 21 000 pages and was never serviced.  Could it be a problem

with the belt(s).  I replaced the cyan and magenta toners to try to solve the problem as they

was depleted, but the black and yellow are still more than halve full.

HP says the duty cycle on that machine is up to 25,000 pages of paper a month, so 21000 pages should certainly not have worn it out.

Had you printed a configuration page on it and looked at the color bars it puts on the bottom? While I have not worked on this model my experience with other models is that the right and left edges of those bars should line up with each other, and the bars should be evenly spaced top to bottom.

If one bar is definitely out of alignment with the others that would indicate that toner cartridge to be the possible cause.

The configuration page would normally have the last few entries from the event log on it. You might find out that the machine is having calibration errors but it is not stopping it from attempting to operate.

A further note, if you do see calibration errors on the configuration page they may also indicate a specific color that the printer is having a problem with.

Hello,

Please see a the post link below.

Note:  I am not sure the CP1215 has the "Calibration Reset" function.

If you have tried the "Full Calibrate Now" function which calibrates (aligns) the Color Plane Registraion (CPR) and there is no resolution with the HW, then a "Calibration Reset" could fix the issue.  I recommend perofrming the Calibration Reset several times.

Regards,

Dave
