First time Ive had to replace the printer cartridge. I have put the cartridge inside only for it to come with the same message 'Install Black Cartridge'.
Please help!

hMake sure that the sealing tape on the print cartridge has been removed.
Verify that the print cartridge is correctly installed.
Inspect the high-voltage contact on the print cartridge and in the print-cartridge cavity to make sure that they are not damaged & also clean the contacts on both the cartridge & the printer.
If the messages persists, install another HP print cartridge.

Hi,
Before you try out a new toner cartridge or check the copper contacts on in the printer cartridge area,
I would recommend you remove the cartridge from the printer and check if there are any tiny bits of paper stuck in the toner cartridge slot within the printer (most probable cause).
I work for HP.

Hi Bhavin,
Below steps should resolve the issue, reply back if issue persists.
1. Remove all paper from the input tray.
2. Open and close the door.
3. Reinsert the paper into the input tray.
4. Powercycle (power off, remove all the cables and power on after 3 minutes) the printer.

Same problem here, placed the cartridge in another P2055 and there it works fine so it isn't the cartridge.
Powered down the printer, removed papertray and all paper but nothing helps.
Do we really have to buy a new printer just because the printer doesn't recognize the cartridge anymore???

Is it maybe still under Warranty ?? 13 months...date on back of printer..carry-in to dealer...
On the left side in the cavity down in the bottom you should see 3 little spring wires....they should all look alike (ie not
bent .grunched, etc..also on that left end the toner should contact a cone like stainless steel contact..
Contact on these 4 places is what lets the printer know that the toner is installed. inspect them., wipe them clean etc...
Good luck ..
