I was installing my new Laserjet pro M102W and had a trouble.

Software was installed properly using the CD that the printer arrived with.

But when I connected the printer as specified in the procedure, an error occured.

 "Cannot Install Hardware

There was a problem installing this hardware:

            HPHP LaserJet M101-M106

An error occured during the installation of the device

The system cannot find the file specified."

I already tried to restart the pinter and PC but nothing works.

Can you help me out?

@GAB-GWEN

Welcome to the HP Forums. I would be happy to help you with your HP LaserJet Pro M102w printer. I understand that you are unable setup the printer and you have already done some preliminary troubleshooting. I would like to help you resolve this issue.

However, I will need a few details to provide an accurate solution,

  • Which operating system is installed on the computer?
  • How is the printer connected to the computer, USB or wireless?

Reply with the result of the above-mentioned steps, for further assistance.

Cheers.

Hi! @GAB-GWEN, I am the MrRobot. It looks like you were interacting with @sandytechy20, but he is out of the office today so I'll take over from here.

I appreciate your efforts for trying out the steps.

As you mentioned the issue still persists after trying out the steps.

Please try the steps recommended below to solve your issue.

To update Windows by installing the latest service packs, visit the following Web site, and then select the version of Windows that you are using:
http://support.microsoft.com/sp
After you install any available service packs, again try to install the device.

Method 2: Replace the Driver.cab file with the original version of the file from the Windows installation disk, and then remove and reinstall your hardware device

Uninstalling the Printer from the computer.
1> In Windows search for and open Programs and features
2>Select your HP Printer
3>Select Uninstall
4>In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers.
5>In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP Printer.
If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete or 'Remove Device'
6>Open up the run command with the "Windows key +R" key combo.
7>Type printui.exe /s and click ok
8>Click on the "drivers" tab.
9>Look for Hp Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10>Select Ok
11>Select Apply and Okon the Printer Server Properties windows

Please update the printer drivers using this link.

Let me know if this helps!

Have a great day ahead! 🙂
