I have downloaded updated firmware for my M1212nf multi-function printer.  The update utility says to make sure that the RFU (remote firmware update) function is "ON", not "OFF" or "OFF AND LOCKED."  However, I have not been able to find out how to access this setting.  The printer is connected via USB cable, not networked.  How can I check/change the RFU setting from the printer control panel?

Hi.

Click the right arrow till Service appears, then press on OK.

Locate the RFU option, it may also be listed as Code Security and click on OK.

Set it as On and click on OK, then run the firmware update utility once again.

If I go to "Service" on the main menu, hit "OK" and the cycle through the sub-menu, it shows T.30 Trace, Restore Defaults, Cleaning Mode, Less Paper Curl, USB Speed, Archive Print and Run FAX Test but never shows anything about security or RFU.  Is the RFU setting buried in a different menu?
