Mine seems to be working now, the only thing I did was return the printer to the default settings.  Dont know if it is a fluke or if it is a fix.  But Im happy mine is working.

Nothing I did from the forums fixed it and HP did not help in anyway - so I ended up replacing the printer.

Fix that works for me:
While 'Initializing...' message is shown on display - open the cartridge door, then message changes to 'Door is open' then you can get to main menu of printer (wrench button) and there we can perform factory reset.
