Hi,

I could not use the wireless print feature after the installation of M177fw printer to my MacBook Pro OS X version 10.10.2

I can only print by connecting the USB cable.

Kindly advise to resolve the issue.

Thks & Rgds.

Hi @tangcy,

I see that you are having issues getting the printer setup on the wireless network. But you can print by a USB connection. I would be happy to help you.

Did you download and install the HP Series Software or run the Apple Updates to install the printer?

Here is the link for the drivers. HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M176/M177 Series Software.

Here is a document for setting up the wireless. Setting Up the Printer for a Wireless or Wired Network for the HP LaserJet Pro MFP M125, M126, and M...

If you are still having issues, try the following steps:

Please verify your Encryption and Password on the network.

To check your network Encryption type, go to the Apple, System Preferences, Network, click the Advanced button/double click the network name. (shows WEP or WPA)

To check the network password follow these steps:
On the Apple menu bar, click Go, select Applications, Utilities, Keychain Access, double click the network name,
check the box to show the password, type in your Mac password to view it. (some networks have a shortcut password setup)

If you haven't already, run the Wireless Setup Wizard on the printer's display. Go to Setup, Network Setup, Wireless Menu, Wireless Setup Wizard.

Print a configuration page to get the printer's IPv4 address.

If you have a valid IPv4 address for the printer then try and access the Embedded Web Server for the printer.
Type the IP address into your web browser's address bar. (Safari)

Did it load the webpage?

Then from Printers and Scanners, then click the + sign to add the driver, you might have to click the drop down to select the printer's name, then click on the Add button.

check driver name 2.jpg

Test the printer.

If the multicasting is turned off on the router, you won't be able to add the printer as a Bonjour device.

If you are having network issues, then add the printer through the IP Protocol.
After clicking the + button, select the IP Protocol across the top, type in the printer's IPv4 address, select jet direct below and then Apply.

Try printing again.

If you appreciate my efforts, please click the 'Thumbs up' button below.
If you have any issues, please let me know what steps you have taken and the results. Thank You.

Neither of this actually works.

After I reboot the printer and/or reconnect it to WiFi network - OS X (10.11.6) see it in the list, adds to the list pf printers, but after that fails to print. Sometimes it breaks while trying to add.

No other device (windows, android, iOS) can print to it either.

So, the printer is visible on the network (when it is visible), but doesn't actually work.

After you try to print to it - it stops being visible on the network, unless printer rebooted / printer wifi re-configured.

All other devices on the network are reachable, can be seen and work. It's only this printer (HP MFP M177fw) that fails to work miserably.

Also, when it was working, the scanning over the network feature was working two times out of five. In most cases, printer reboot (completely removing the power cord and starting back) was required to make it scan over the network again.
