MFP M880

Hi,

We have recently acquired 2 new HP Color LaserJet flow MFP M880 machines for my company.

They are connected via CAT5e to the local network and shared on a Windows server 2008 r2 print server.

The machines have been working perfectly well, however we are signed up for the monitoring service, where we are automatically sent toner when it is detected that the supplies are low.

The problem is that we keep getting informed by head office that they cannot see the printer, so the monitoring does not work. When they cannot see it, I also cannot access the web interface (by typing the printer's IP address into a browser) . A simple machine reboot fixes the issue, but a few days later, the issue occurs again.

I have set up a web page monitor so I get an alert each time the web interface is non-responsive (seems to be every 3/4 days)  but would like to find a better solution than having to go and physically reboot each printer a couiple of times a week.

The strange thing is that even when the web interface is non-responsive, the printer is still fully functional and will print without issue, so it must still be networked.

Any ideas on how to go about resolving this?

sounds link a security / authentication issue. I have seen some wierd things going on with DHCP and simple desktop switches, but this seems like it may have more to do with your main switch or server settings.

have you disabled IPv6, DHCPv6, disabled any unsed network protocols like air print/ bonjour etc.

Also, try setting the "duplex speed" setting from "Auto" to TX100Full- found under IPv4 or advaned in the network settings tab of the web interface.

Also check for a "UDP" drop box and set that to TCP

be sure to document any changes made and I would only do them one at a time on a big server

I am not a HP employee. I am a service tech on these forums researching topics and offering my best guess to aide in your troubleshooting.
