I have two HP printers on a network of all windows machines varying from Win 7 to Win 10. Both printers give me the "memory is low, cancelling" message. This happens when people try to scan or copy documents.
Is there a memeory location that I need to clean out?
Do I have to do some factory reset every month to keep this from occuring?
WHy is this behavior the same on two different machines? One is a MFP 277 the other is a MFP 426.

Hi @Fulky,
Good Day! Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! 🙂 I understand that you have printing issues with the printer displaying low memory error messages. It will be a genuine pleasure to assist you here. 🙂
Brilliant effort and superb diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you on that score. 🙂 I am amazed at your technical expertise. 🙂 Kudos to you for a job well done. 🙂
We greatly value your relationship with HP. You are a valued HP customer and we appreciate you greatly for doing business with HP. I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you.:)
For better clarity, let me gather some information here.
- Do you need to perform factory resets each month to clear this memory error message?
- When do you exactly get the message? Is it while copying, scanning and printing a lot of pages. (bulk scanning and copying)
For now, please check this link out: http://support.hp.com/in-en/product/hp-laserjet-pro-mfp-m426-m427-series/7458649/document/c05051527/ and perform all the steps recommended here.
Also, try running the print and scan document from this link:http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02073861
Then check if it gets cleared and the printers work fine. If the issue persists, please update both the printers’ firmware from this link: http://hp.com/drivers Please select the country and type the product# of the printer.
Then follow the on-screen instructions.
If none of these options work, please contact HP phone support to get the printers serviced or replaced.
Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/
Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect
Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"
Step 4. Scroll down and click: HP contact options - click on Get phone number, Case number and phone number appear.
They will be happy to assist you immediately.
If the units are under warranty, the manufacturer’s warranty should take care of it for you.
Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you. 🙂
To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.:)
If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles. 🙂
Take care now and have a splendid week ahead. 🙂
