It's not for your exact printer, but shows the solution. You will find the info about 30 seconds in.
This solved the problem for me and others with the HP4520.

If you printed a photo from your computer on photographic paper the printer will continue to understand that you're still printing on photographic paper so it will take ages.
Open the paper drawer and close it. It will ask if you've put in A4 etc paper and you tap 'NO'. A window will then appear with all the different types of paper, and you'll see that it's still programmed to print on photo paper. Tap in ordinary paper. The printer will then make photocopies at the normal speed......wheeee!
My computer readout is in French but the info here should get you there

Thank you so much for your advice. My mom's printer was scanning but taking too long to copy the scan. I did what you suggested and it works great now. All it took was to put in the correct paper. Again thank you for your help.
