The colours appear misaligned when I print. Black appears around 1mm left of the other colours. I've tried hard reset and colour calibration.

How are your cartridges in terms of level of toner? The printer can have issues with alignment when cartridges get low because they are unable to read the calibration stripes properly if toner is not uniform. Also keep in mind that black is fixed and colors are aligned to the black so if there are problems with the black it can throw off the colors.

There are no warnings of low toner and the diagnostic print looked fine apart from the misalignment. Black is at 10%, the colours at 20 or 30%.

Note I've also tried a reset to factory settings.

Try a Power Reset to eliminate a possible logic or power issue:
First, make sure the printer is plugged straight into a wall outlet and not a power strip, surge protector or UPS.
With the printer plugged in and powered ON, disconnect the power cord from the printer. This will hopefully dissipate any electricity stored in the printer that could be causing a problem.
Wait at least 30, preferably 60 seconds.
If you don't have an actual ON/OFF switch, press and hold the power button for about 10-15 seconds a couple of times in the beginning just to be sure it tries to drain the power fully. Make sure any other cables, other than power, are removed when you try to power it up again.
If there is a power switch, turn it to the OFF position.
Plug the power cable back into the printer.
Turn the printer ON with the power switch.

Remove and re-install all the cartridges. Run the calibration routine a few times since it takes a few sometimes to get it to work. Print out a supplies status page to check alignments. If the colors are still off from the black, replace the black cartridge as it is not working like it should.
