If I connect the printer to a standard bridge or old router, it grabs an IP address without issue.  It does not, however, do so when I directly plug an ehternet cable from the printer into my wireless Asus router.  I found the latest firmware (from 2015) and updated it through a USB connection and that did not resolve the issue.

To be clear, even though the router is wireless, I am plugging an Ehternet cable directly from the printer to the router.  Outside of this router, the server will get an IP address.  And the router is configured as a DHCP server.

The JetServer settings on the printer show it to be configured to grab a DHCP address.

What can I do to resolve this issue?

Maybe the router has an issue. Have you tried to assign a static ip address to the printer and reserve that address on the router.

I tried that and then assigned the IP and MAC address in the router but it did not work.  I could not ping the IP much less connect to it as a printer.

Then I would think the router has some sort of issue. Since the router is gig and the printer is 10/100 perhaps there is a setting in the router that needs to be changed to accomodate the slower speed of the printer's network interface.
