I wanted to reply to previously entered questions about this issue but I couldn't see a way to do that...
In reading all of the responses it became clear to me that the problem is with the Macbook Air not being able to recognize when the HP 8600 has been given a new IP address, after a power failure for example. The simple fix is to turn your Macbook Air off and restart so it can re-establish the necessary connections.
I've always maintained that it is sensible to turn off any computer periodically so I tend to do it often. A Macbook Air does not naturally invite this common sense habit.

Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you.
I understand that you are unable to print from your HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer.
This issue could occur if the drivers are not installed properly.
Let's go through a few steps to resolve this issue.
And here's the step by step guide for you in the links below:
1. Uninstalling the Printer Software (Windows)
2. Installing a Mac Printer Driver Using Apple Software Update
Let me know how this works.
You have a good day ahead.
