It does not work for HP SCANJET G3110... it only scans photos and documents to 300ppp... but it does not work with:

- Higher resolutions like 4800 or 9600.

- TMA for negative film.

So why do we want this software if it can not take profit of our scanners?

Well, I feel silly, but I am not nearly as computer savvy as most people who use this forum.  I read that an update is available to scan and capture for windows 8.1 only.  I cannot find any information on this in the windows store.  

Also, I need explicit instructions on how to change my settings so that these updates are automatically installed.  I just checked my current version of scan and captre and it is 4.0.245.0.  It also said the last update was 5/22/14.  It works great so maybe I should leave it alone; however, I probably do need the updates as they occur.

Thanks for any help you can provide this lady who uses her computer a lot but knows very little about the technical end of things.

I tried to install through Microsoft Store in Windows 8.1, but it just says I have "HP Scan and Capture" already installed... and I can not read which version, neither can update to 1.4 version.

Just a loose of time.

Hi-

You can get the version of your app by going to Settings/Permissions.   The most current version of the app is 40.0.245.0.   This was deemed as version 1.4 internally but that's not an external facing number, sorry for the confusion.  

If you see a previous version listed, check to make sure that you have automatic updates enabled in the Store app.  (Settings/App Updates).

The version installed in my computer is 40.0.245.0.

The HP Scan and Capture shows a 300ppp resolution limit (both photo and documents).

The HP Scan and Capture doesn't allow negative film scan.

The HP Scan and Capture doesn't allow choosing the area we want to scan.

So the HP Scan and Capture has no use.

When I use this APP with an Officejet Pro 8620, a double sided scan from the ADF creates a 2 page document with page 2 upside down. There does not seem to be an option to set that could fix this. Please help as I have a pile of documents to scan and I don't want every other page upside down.
