Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello.  Where can I download pcl6 drivers for the HP 8715?  Im an IT admin and one of my users has the HP 8715 at her home office.  When she connects to her work pc via rdp, we can see her printer redirected just fine.  She is having a problem where randomly her printouts are gibberish.  I believe it's because the driver on her local pc is PCL-3 and the driver on her work pc is the Universal HP driver.  I'd like to install a PCL6 or even PS driver on both the pc's but I cannot find it.  Please advise.

The Officejet Pro 8715 only supports PCL3,  the Officejet Pro 8730, 8740 and 8745 support PCL6 and PS. See the Printing Specifications in the document here.

Thank you Bob.  How can I install the pcl3 driver on the remote machine that I rdp to?  When I try to install the full driver or even the basic, the installer is prompting me to connect the printer which I physically cannot do since it is remote.  Please advise.

I will ask to have one of my colleuges step in for this one.  I am not well versed in settting up printers in an RDP environment.

Hi,

I suggest using an alternate driver such as the Deskjet 6940 on the remote machine, that would be the simplest solution:

Click Add Printer, then select a local printer.

Select LPT1 and press Next.

within the printers list select HP, then select HP Deskjet 6940 model from the list (which is ordered alphabetical).

Note: if HP Deskjet 6940 is not listed, press Windows Update, allow the update to complete and then it will be listed.

Follow the steps to complete the wizard, name the printer as you would like.

Next right click the added printer, select Printer Properties, open the ports tab and select the correct port (the same port as listed for the current driver to generate a gibbrish).

Press OK and try printing using the newly added printer.

Please let me kow how it goes

Shlomi
