Need to permanently disable Tray 1

We have a warehouse where several users print to one printer, the printer is connected to our network via Wifi.

We want everybody who prints to the printer to print from tray 2 NOT tray 1.

We have set Network settings to select tray 2 always, but some users  print jobs default to tray 1 which holds up everybody elses print jobs and causes confusion with the wrong people picking up the wrong print jobs.

I need a setting that will totally disable tray 1 and send every print job to tray 2 any ideas?

I believe your problem is not so much the printer but what your people are sending. To understand there is a setting for tray 2 of paper size and paper type. If you can set the printer to have tray 2 set as paper size any and paper type any it may work but I do not think it is possible for the size to be set as any. The only thing I can suggest is on each device that prints to this printer to go into the driver and under printer properties change tray 1 to not installed from installed. This way the driver will always ask for tray 2. This may not solve your issue if someone like is trying to print an email which has a size embedded in the document that is not a size listed as available since the printer will still ask you to put the size in tray 1 and then press the go button. Now on some printers you can specify tray 1 as any size and any type which will allow you to have all jobs go to tray 1, however, tray 1 is generally slower and does not have the paper capacity of tray 2. Hope some of this helps.

I think it in an embedded size issue,unfortunately when it gets an issue it defaults to tray 1.

We have had our IT dept look at it and not solve the problem.

I was hoping we could somehow unplug tray 1 and force everything to tray 2

Hi , I have a HP M452NW Wifi printer,we have it setup to print to Tray 2 as default.

We have 6 users who connect and print to it and it works fine when prnting from Outlook,Excel,word ETC.

We have an access report which is setup to use the MS default printer settings which is setup to use Tray 2 as default.

when the 6 users print to any other printer the report prints to Tray 2  when they print to the M452NW the print job defaults to Tray 1 (Manual print) the users have to walk over to the printer and manually select tray 2 for it to print.

My question is we would like to buy another M452NW but not if we cant fix thes bug.

Is there any way of disabling Tray 1 so all jobs are forced to Tray 2
