I recently resurrected an old company printer. It is an MFP 577dw. Unfortunately, the admin account is locked. I have done the factory reset twice. The admin credentials are still in place. I am able to join it to the network, but I am not able to change or use the Scan-to-email function.

I definitely would appreciate some insight. Thanks

I am the same dilemma and have escalated through HP support and the last word was that the EWS password is not reset by Design on that machine.

Support said that the main board would have to be replaced in order to clear the password.

I have the same problem. I have five PageWide Pro 577dw printers in my office. Two have somehow acquired the EWS password lock, and three do not have the EWS password lock. Let's be very clear, I did not set the password. Something has accidentally triggered the password lock. I have escalated the problem through HP for 30 days, and they have no solution to unlock the EWS. I also tried every method to remove the password, including the MFG RESET menu, replacement firmware, and a field technician replaced hardware boards inside the printer. Nothing has worked. HP are going to replace the two printers. I am afraid that something is going go wrong with the other three printers and I will have to repeat this nightmare. This is extraordinary for a printer to lock-up in this way.

In my case the MFP was taken out of service and sat powered off for a few months.

Then the company was being visited by an HP Rep who was going to take a look at it while he was here, so I went through the procedure one more time and it cleared the password... (no logical explanation for the success)

I am HP Authorized to repair this model...

Is this a Laserjet or a Pagewide? You are posted in the Laserjet section but the model number appears to be ink.
