Laserjet Pro 400 M425dn

I just bought a LaserJet Pro 400 M425dn printer and tried to set it up on my University network. I have a static IP address for the printer. However, no matter how I set the printer, I only see Cable disconnected in the Network Status screen on the touchscreen display. The cable and wall plug are working, since I can connect a computer to the network using them.

 

There are no blinking lights near the network adapter. Is the printer network card faulty?

The network port is part of the formatter so if defective you will have to replace the formatter.  That said I did have one that would not connect to the network.  I can not remember if the link lights were on or off but it ended up the port was wired wrong.  The pairs were reversed like a crossover cable and we did the same thing and connected a notebook to the port and it work.  We found out the notebook automatically detected the reversed pair and connected.  Not sure if that is your case, but I would move the printer to another location just to see if I get a link light at the other location.  If no link light, then I am afraid the formatter will need replacing.

thank you very much for your response. Thanks to your suggestion, I made some test and actually found out that the ethernet ports to which I connected the printer are troublesome, as they are old 100baseT ports. The computers connect (after a couple of minutes), but the printer didn't. We were able to solve with the IT guy by enabling one of the new gigabit ethernet plugs and the printer works like a charm.
