HP LaserJet M4345 MFP
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

Good evening

I have a big problem. We have a network printer HP LaserJet M4345 MFP. It's connected to a switch and the switch is connected to a Telmex Modem.  It has a static IP. 5 computers connect to this printer, but I'm going to use one as a sample.

The problem is that I can't print anything.

  • I can install the printer in all the computers
  • I can ping the printer
  • I can access the printer's configuration via browser
  • I can even scan a document

But I can't even print the test page. We have static IP and it doesn't repeat the IP, the hostname is unique and the date is all right. I tried making a ping test to the default gateway and it does ping with a good response time.  So:

  • The printer's configuration can be accesed via browser
  • The computer can ping the printer
  • I can scan a document to the PC
  • The printer installs pretty fast in all machines
  • The printer can ping the default gateway
  • Both the IP Address and hostname are unique

What could be the problem? I've tried printing in all machines with no success.

Thanks for your attention.

It is possible the network card has an issue but since it is embedded your only work around would be to purchase an EIO jet direct card and put in the EIO slot in the back near where the network cable is plugged in.  They are fairly cheap on ebay and you will want to purchase a 610N, 615N or 620N as any of those models will work.  You will need to assign an ip address that is different from the one assigned to the built in card.  I think there is a way to disable the built in network card but I will have to do further research on that.  If you have an older hp printer you are not using that has an eio network card, even if the older 600N it will work in this printer.

On one computer add the printer with add printer, local printer, next, create new port, next, put in the ip address when asked and do not query the printer and next.  When the makers page comes up choose hp on the left and then choose laserjet 4200 on the right and finish up.  See if you can print.  If you can, then you have an issue with the driver you are using, the address you are using or if you have this as a network printer on a server it may have wrong settings. Remember the printer you will choose for this test is the Laser Jet 4200 and this is the printer you will select when you go to file and print or bring up the printer properties in devices and printers and click on the test page link under the general tab.

Thanks for your quick reply and sorry for not replying quick, I had a lot of problems in that work.

I used a workaround: connected the printer in one machine via USB, and share it to the others computers. The issue is the same, I can't print but I can ping and scan to a PC using the digital sending via network. It's only with printing. It prints when using USB but using ethernet It's extremately slow or it doesn't work, showing 'error'. I tried it even without connecting it to internet, just a PC, a switch and the printer. Bot IP are 192.168.1.101 (PC) 192.168.1.102 (Printer), and Subnet is 255.255.255.0. Also I tried using that driver (4200/4300). My mind just got a blank state, never faced this in the past.

I'm really sorry for the late reply. I'm extremately stressed, I can't even sleep properly.

Thanks for your support.

As you say, it looks like a problem with the JetDirect Card. Well, I'll buy one and attach it. I think that's my best course of action. Thank you so much for your support, I'll mark that as the answer as it looks pretty legit (it's not the printer, not the network, not the driver and not the computer).
