Trying to configure my M1217nfw MFP to play nicely with a new wireless router. The instructions I have received so far include printing a Self Test/Configuration page to obtain the printer's IP address. This I have done. However, when I type the IP address into my browser and attempt to go there (to get the printer configuration instructions, I assume), the request times out. This has happened both when going to the IP address from my laptop and also from my phone. I need a little help please.

Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums. I came across your post and would like to help.
I understand that you have an HP LaserJet Pro M1217nfw Multifunction Printer and it does not connect to the wireless network. Using the IP address of the printer, you are unable to access the printer page as it keeps saying request timed out. I appreciate the steps you have performed and have certainly done a good job.
I request you to let me the IP address of the printer. If the IP address starts with 169 then it is not the correct one. Moreover, the Configuration page should have an SSID, this SSID is the network name. The SSID on the page should match with SSID on the computer. This is to ensure that the printer and the computer are on the same network,
If the SSID network name) matches then I suggest you to perform the below steps:
- Press the Setup button on the printer.
- Go to Network config.
- Navigate and go to Restore Defaults. Press the OK button to restore the network configuration settings to the default values.
Once you have performed the above steps, please refer to this link to set up the printer wirelessly: http://hp.care/2hwcVtF
Hope this helps. Please keep me posted. Cheers! 🙂
