I have had this printer for years and never once had an issue with brand new ink cartridges until now. I bought a 6 pack of HP Ink because all my colors needed to be replaced and put all brand new cartridges in only for my printer to tell me 3 of them are empty. I have went through all the trouble shooting and nothing has fixed the issue. Has anyone else had this issue and if so where you able to fix it without buying new cartridges? I just spent too much money as it is and cannot return these as they are opened and used so I am not wanting to buy anymore.

Hi @Jena84,
Thank you for showing your interest in HP Support Forums. It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel. For you to have the best experience on the HP forum, you could also visit our HP Forums Guide for the First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
As I understand you are having printing issues after replacing it with the new cartridges. I'll be really glad to help you with this,
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
Are you using genuine HP cartridges or is it refilled cartridges?
Did you try using another cartridge and check?
Was the alignment successful when you tried?
In the meantime, let's try these steps here:
Please make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.
Remove all the ink cartridges and then try to perform a Hard reset on the printer.
* With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
* Remove USB cable, if present.
* Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
* Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
* Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.
Now insert the ink cartridges and then try to print a test page and check if it works.
Let’s first try and make a “photocopy” to determine whether the issue is with the printer or not. Place a document on the scanner glass and choose “Copy” option. If the printer is making a good copy, then the printer hardware is fine.
If you’re running Windows, I would start by checking the installed printer software by downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor. This tool can diagnose and fix many printing and printer software related issues. Please use this link to help you with that information: http://hp.care/2biN2XE

Yes they are genuine HP Ink Cartridges that I purchased brand new (not refilled). I know it is not my printer having the issue seeing as the previous cartridges were printing just fine until the ink expired and now that I put all brand new cartidges in only 3 of them are showing as full where the other 3 are showing empty. My printer will not print anything if any of the cartridges are empty or expired so I cannot make a copy.
I have tried everything you are suggesting me to do prior to posting here. I could not find a phone number to call to see what can be done about the cartridges that are not working since the issue is with them. I am not paying more money for new cartridges when it is HP's fault for selling defective cartridges. I spend enough money on them as it is and I do not have the money to waste in buying 3 new ones.
