I recently upgrades to an OfficeJet Pro 8720.  It came with a new version of HP Easy Scan (V1.7) which I run on a Mac.  It no longer uses the standard file dialog to save files.  Instead you only get to select the directory and then must type the file name.  I use a standard of repeating file names.  Hence, I used to select the last file scanned and edit the name for the new variation to keep the structure of my names.  Is there a way to get back to this so I don't have to open a finder window to validate that the name I am using follows my convensions?

I miss the old version.

Greetings @mbarel

Welcome to HP Forums and Thanks for the post.

I understand that you are looking for a method to organize the scanned files from your printer. I would like to provide my suggestion.

Have you tried any other application for scanning?

Are you facing any print quality or scan quality related issue?

To the best of my knowledge, there is no predefined file naming option you are looking for in the printer software.

Recommend you to try any other software for scanning to check if they provide the predefined name for scanning documents.

Refer to this HP Article for other scanning options on MAC.

You can also google for scanning softwares for MAC and try them at your own discretion.

Let me know if this helped.

I think you are missing the probxlem.  I'm not looking for help in developing naming conventions.  I've had them for years.  What I have done in the past is to select is to select a file in the standard Save dialog, change the date (or other appropriate marker) and save.  That way I do not have to remember (or lookup) my naming convention for every file type that I save.  I have about 50 different names that are used.  I'm looking for restoration of the old (standard MacOS) dialog where this can be done.
