HP Photosmart

The cartridges are in and are new. They have been working but now the message has suddenly appeared?

Kind regards,

Welcome to HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.

I understand that you have an HP Photosmart printer and it gives an error saying "printer cartridge(s) missing or not detected." I read that the cartrdidges are newly installed. I'd like to assist you with this case.

I would like to know if any changes (pape rjam, etc. or software updates) took place on the printer after which this issue may have started. Also, please let me know the exact product model no. This link will help you to find the model no: http://hp.care/2bygf7l. Using the specific model no. I can work closely with the issue and provide proper steps.

Meanwhile, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • Disconnect the power cable from the printer while the printer is still ON.
  • Disconnect any other cables if connected the printer.
  • Press and hold the printer’s power button for 15 seconds.
  • The printer should be directly connected to the wall outlet and not to a surge protector. Reconnect the power cable to print and the printer should power ON by itself. If the printer doesn’t power ON then please manually power it ON.

If the issue persists then please remove all cartridges out and insert one by one and check for which cartridge the error comes up. Make sure that the plastic tapin gis remove on the cartridges and the cartridges go into their respective slots.

I will wait for your response. All the best! 🙂
