Switch off two-step verification for the email.

If you don't want to do that, create another email address to use with your scan-to-email setup.

How do I switch off two-step verification?

All I simply want to do is scan a document and have it emailed....

Two Step verification provides extra protection to prevent unauthorized access to your accounts.

Not all programs support Two Step verification because it requires an added step to log in.  Programs that do not support the service lack the necessary (program) code to bypass the verification process.

From the previous posted link:

  1. If you don't meet the minimum system requirements, your data is still protected by two-step verification. However, if you change your Apple ID password while you're signed in to iCloud on devices that don't meet the minimum requirements, you might see these issues.

See:

 two-step verification

How do I turn off two-step verification?

  1. Sign in to your Apple ID account page.
  2. In the Security section, Click Edit.
  3. Click Turn Off two-step verification.
  4. Create new security questions and verify your date of birth.

You'll get an email confirming that two-step verification for your Apple ID is off.

Because there are side-effects and possible consequences to any change, I recommend that you read all the information and then proceed.

Thanks for this info....was driving me nuts why I could not configure my new LaserJet scan to email feature. I have 2-factor authentication with iCloud, so looks like I cannot use this feature. No prob, rather be safe than sorry!

You are welcome.

I use different addresses for different purposes -- you might set up an email address that is just for this purpose.  Have messages marked with a specific tag to be forwarded to your main address.

Perhaps of Interest:  Apps Passwords

How to generate and manage your app-specific passwords in iCloud

Partial Excerpt:

Apple has increased security around iCloud and how apps and devices can access your data. One of the newest forms of iCloud security is the use of app-specific passwords. Essentially, any apps that don't support two-step verification, if you have it enabled, will instead need an app-specific password in order to link up to your iCloud account. This ensures that your primary Apple ID password isn't collected or stored by any third party apps. Luckily, generating app-specific passwords and managing them is easy enough!

I might well be missing something -- Except for my favorite iPad, I am Windows centric.  Smiling.

Good Luck!

Hello, I tried everything you suggesed:

1. Used SMTP address smtp.mail.me.com

2. Used port no 587

3. Made sure "Always use secure connection" was not checked

4. Made sure two factor off on all my apple devices was turned off

However I still got the following error message:

"Error.  Email (SMTP) server does not support secure connections.

Would apprechiate any other ideas you may have to get this to work?"
