I just setup an Office Jet 3830 that I had bought last year. The setup went fine but when it printed a page there were areas where it only printed the top half of the sentence or some didn't print at all.
I ran the clean print cartridge several times. I also did the print head alignment. When it printed out it's test page the dark black ink bar wasn't solid, it had even spaced blanks between the printed bars. Also the vertical lines were broken and the box in the center was not solid
I've deleted and reinstalled the software that I saved to the computer but didn't help. I've also did the firmware update at the outside chance it would help but didn't.
The fax and the scanner works just fine!
Any chance this is just a bad black ink cartridge?
Since I waited too long HP says the printer is out of warrentee so I can't get any answers from them.
Not fun having a printer that won't print!
Thanks
Denny

Hi! @Denny061, Welcome to HP forums.
I understand your printer is not printing complete lines.
Don't worry I'd like to help you out.
Did you make any changes to your printer?
Please try the steps recommended below.
Align the printer
Aligning the ink cartridges correctly aligns the printhead with the printer. Align the ink cartridges, and then evaluate the results.
On the printer control panel, swipe the display to the left, and then touch Setup.
Touch Tools, and then touch Align Printer.
An alignment page prints.
Lift the scanner lid.
Place the alignment page with the print side down on the scanner glass, and then position it according to the engraved guides around the glass.
Close the scanner lid.
Touch OK to scan the page and complete the ink cartridge alignment.
Refer this article to further troubleshoot Print Quality issues.
If the issue still persists try to replace the ink cartridge and check if it helps.
Hope to hear from you soon!
Have a beautiful day ahead! 🙂
