Yesterday on 9/23/16 my computer automatically downloaded the latest Windows 10 update. After the update was installed, my printer is no longer available on the printers list when I try to print a document. I went to the HP website and downloaded the driver for the Office Jet J4550. When I try to open it, I receive a message that says "This app can't run on your PC. To find a version for your PC, check with the software publisher."
Is HP planning to issue a driver compatible with the most recent Windows 10 update, or do I have to go buy a new printer? I'd prefer not to do that, since I just bought several new ink cartridges.

Before you try to install the fresh copy of the Full Feature Software, do uninstall the exisiting printer programs from Programs and Features > reboot and log in.
Your Printer's Website Support Driver Page:
HP Officejet J4550 All-in-One Printer
Scroll down on the Driver page to find video help to install the software.
Your Full Feature Software:
File name: OJ_AIO_J4500_Full_Win_WW_140_404-4.exe
Release details
Released: Aug 21, 2014
Version 14.8.0
Help, suggestions, and examples:
Install Full Feature Software – Printer
Operating System recently migrated to Windows 10 and / or to re-install the printer software:
- If using a USB cable to connect the printer and computer, disconnect the cable
- Create a Restore Point >
- Reinstall / Update your PDF Reader (Adobe Reader DC / Foxit)
- This works best if the computer's Windows (10) Updates are current - check if you are unsure
- If available, update your HP Drivers (or other vendor computer) - printer software likes updated Drivers
- Open Printer Website Driver Support Page >
- Download a fresh copy of the Full Feature software >
- Remove existing Printer Software from Programs and Features / Apps and Features / All Apps / Devices and Printers >
- Shut down the computer > boot, and log in >
- Install Full Feature Software (find in your Downloads folder > Double-Click on the file) >
- Restart the computer and log in to finish the installation

Thank you for the suggestion. Since I have been using Windows 10 for many months and the problem arose only with the most recent update, I doubt that the fix you reference will provide a solution. I will uninstall the previous driver and try again, though, on the off chance that it makes a difference. I would appreciate hearing from the company about whether they will support Windows 10 in future; there is no option to contact support directly to ask that question, unfortunately. Not one I've been able to find, anyway.

Updates sometimes cause issues with installed software, regardless of that program's compatibility with the installed Operating System.
You should always do what you think is best for your systems and your situation.
