OfficeJet K550
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

After seeing that my printheads were in "Fair" condition using the Printer Status app I bought two new printheads and replaced them with new, HP part numbers C9381A and C9382A. After replacing the old printheads with the new I got a printhead error on the C9381A unit so I replaced it with the one I had just taken out and I still got the printhead error that indicated I should replace the printhead.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@DDCFactors,

Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that you are getting printhead error after replacing the printhead from your HP OfficeJet K550.

This issue could occur if the electrical contacts on the unit are not clean

Let's go through a few steps to troubleshoot this issue.

And here's the step by step guide for you listed below:

1. Open the top cover.

2. If the carriage does not move to the left automatically, press and hold resume button for 3 seconds. Wait for the carriage to stop moving, then, unplug the power cord from the printer.

3. Lift the printhead latch.

4. Lift the handle of the printhead (which corresponds to the blinking printhead light) and use it to pull the printhead out of its slot.

5. Obtain clean, dry, soft and lint-free cleaning material. Suitable materials include paper coffee filters and eyeglass lens cleaning paper.

Caution: Do Not Use Water.

Let me know how this works.

You have a good day ahead.
