Hi pcwizard;
I've done this before, and I downloaded the utility and did it again. Same result;
(1) Connectivity OK
(2) Device Manager OK
(3) Driver.....Right arrow points to the word driver and a box says "scanning". After about 1 to 2 minutes of watching this, this message finally appears, "the scanner is not responding". end of story.
Is it fatal?

Hi rdhnick,
Try using the scrubber built into the CD or Download.
From Original installation CD:

2. Open My Computer, and then right click on the CD drive and chose open
3. Open folder Util

5. If you have an HP computer run the L3uninstall.exe. If you have a non-HP computer run the L4uninstall.exe
6. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer
7. Run Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tools
8. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player
http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
9. Download the full feature software and drivers
10. Run the download to reinstall the printer
If software was downloaded and extracted to your system:
1. Type %temp% in the run field
2. Look for, and open the folder starting with 7z (Example: 7zS2356)
3. Open folder Util
4. Open folder CCC
5. If you have an HP computer run the L3uninstall.exe. If you have a non-HP computer run the L4uninstall.exe
6. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer
7. Run Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tools
8. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player
http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
9. Download the full feature software and drivers
10. Run the download to reinstall the printer

Hi pcwizard;
Finally had some time to try this. I downloaded the full feature file, but after I click EXIT from the splash screen, the file beginning with "7z...." is nowhere to be found. Nor is C:\DOCUME~.......
Don't know what to do? Also, I tried downloading the latest Adobe flash player using your link and It doesn't exist per the 404 message I get??
Not that I'm complaining but should this be so hard???? Thanks.

Hi rdhnick,
Can you still make a standalone copy from the printer control panel?
Are you able to scan using Microsoft Paint?

Hi rdhnick,
I understand you don't normally use Microsoft Paint, but in order to help isolate this issue I need to know if you are able to scan using Paint. This will let me know if the Windows Image Acquistion is working or not.
