OfficeJet Pro 6960
Microsoft Windows XP

I'm just after setting up an OfficeJet Pro 6960 and everything is working fine, except I can't scan to the computer using the touchscreen panel on the printer.

It's setup wirelessly, so connected directly through the router, and I've been able to print from both a Windows XP desktop and Macbook with no issues, also able to scan if I select the option through the computer, or scan to email from the panel. But when I go to scan to computer I get the message "No computer found" and some information on making sure the software is installed and to change it from there.

It says on the message to go into "Scanning Actions" then "Manage Scan to Computer", but I don't see either of those options listed anywhere. Either in the HP Scan software, or in the general printer management one for the specific printer model.

I also installed and ran the Print & Scan Doctor, all the tests completed except for the HP Twain Scan. Don't know if that has anything to do with it.

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Forums.

How to Scan to Computer

Once you have installed the software:

1. Click on the printer Icon (on your desktop) and it will bring up the HP Printer Assistant.
2. Under the Scan menu, there is a “Manage Scan to Computer”, click on that.
3. Make sure that you “Enable” Scan to Computer. Also make sure the tab “Automatically start Scan to Computer when I log on to Windows” is checked if you want to make this feature permanent. (the following video will show you how)

How to use "Scan to Computer" properly

Hope that helps!

Hi, thanks for the reply!

Unfortunately when I go into that menu the only option I have is to open the scan dialog, which just brings up the same menu in the first post

I tried adjusting the size of the window etc. to see if it was out of visual range but nothing else appeared. All the options are there under the Print tab (connect printer to web, set preferences, maintain your printer etc.) but the only thing that's under the scan tab is to open the scan dialog.

I was wondering if there was any update on this? I have since connected to the computer via USB and re-downloaded the software, but still only have the one scanning option. Is it not possible to use this feature on Windows XP?
