Ok. So I print 32 copies of a one page report (two sided). I use Microsoft Word to write it and print it. All goes perfectly. I print my copies, I shut the computer but the printer is on as always.

An hour or so later, I'm watching television and my printer starts again, printing another 32 copies of that report! I can definitely rule out someone messing around.

Did this ever happen to anyone? Why? What's the solution?

The printer is not cabled to the computer. We use the WiFi.

Thanks.

Thanks for the post and Welcome to HP Forums @MrManFam,

I see you are facing an issue with your printer printing multiple times on its own.

Don't worry, I will be glad to help.

Have you tried any troubleshooting steps on your own?

Have you enabled web services on the printer?

Do you use ePrint?

As the printer is connected through wireless. Recommend you to assign a static ip address to the printer and observe.

Please follow the procedure mentioned below to assign a static ip address to the printer.

  • Obtain the IP address of the printer (which can found by pressing the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel)
  • Enter the IP address on the web browser (Ex: chrome, IE) to enter the printer EWS page.
  • Go to the “Network” tab, click on “Wireless (802.11) then click on “Network address (IPV4)
  • Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
  • Click on the radio button which says “Manual DNS server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)

You can also refer to this HP Article for assistance. (Step 4 under Manual steps to solve the problem)

Let me know if this helped.
