Had a closer look at the alignment problem and it is making some funny grating noises when it starts the alignment process.

So I have concluded it is worn out and will look for a replacement.

Will try the phone number you have given for a possible trade in.

Interestingly, Pc World only sell one All in One HP Printer, Lewis's only sell two and one of those is low resolution.

Surprising because HP appear to be the only company doing 4800 x 1200 print resolution

Thanks for your help anyway

I did complete two support forms asking for help but never had a reply and this was a major concern when buying another HP product.

HP does not make it easy to get support and seem to indicate that unless the product  is in warranty they do not want to know and the only place you can go is the community.

This is not good
