When I plug in the printer, the power light flashes & the screen does the normal thing - hp logo & scrolling bar at the bottom. Then a message comes up saying "! To avoid damage use the On button to shut down. Do not use". If I hit OK the message goes away and the usual screen options of print / scan / fax come up. Then, regardless of whether or not I hit OK, the printer just dies and the power button is unresponsive. If I unplug and plug back in, it will do the same, ad infinitum.
Any clues anyone?
Thanks, Andy

This issue could occur if the printer is connected to an outlet that supplying low power.

Thanks Rainbow23 for taking the time to respond.
I'm afraid neither of the help topics fit the issue I'm having - there's definitely no problem with the power outlet and & I've unplugged it several times which should have reset the power module if that was the issue. There's also nothing I can do about firmware issues without being able to turn on and connect to the printer.
I did another search regarding this and it seems to have been an issue with this model for a number of years, and the suggestion was that faulty power modules were being fitted.
Do you (or does anyone else out there) have any other ideas to resolve this problem?
Thanks
