Officejet 4630 installed wirelessly

WIN7 64 bit

Problem:   Cannot print from my computer.  I can print from my iphone 5.  Cannot scan from printer to computer.  Error message states that there is no internet connection but there is.  Ran Print and Scan Doctor software which found an error but could not explain it or what to do.

Make and model of router?  What was the error message exactly?  What steps in the manual did the wireless install fail at?  Did you connect successfully to you SSID?

Make and model of router?  Linksys WRT54G-TM Firmware Version : v5.00.38

What was the error message exactly? I receive a Print Job Cancelled message when I print from my computer.

What steps in the manual did the wireless install fail at?  Their was no failure.  Everything installed without any problems.  When i print anything, the print job is immediately cancelled.

Did you connect successfully to you SSID? Yes, and I have a static ip address assigned to the printer.

Let's reinstall the full featured software and drivers from here.

Pick you OS.  Now try.

Should I delete the pritner software already installed and then install a fresh copy from the link you gave or just install over the current software?  Also, should I connect the printer to my computer using a USB cord or can I select wireless since that is the ultimate goal to be able to function fully as a wireless machine?

HP Recommended

Always best to remove the old software first.    Some printers you have to connect the USB cable to transfer the wireless settings to the printer.  I have not downloaded the manual and read that... I assume you have.   Follow the manual.

I did follow the manual's installation instructions each time I installed the software; and, each time the software installs, it completes without any problems.  However, after install and after a reboot, none of the hp printer programs.  I can access the printer's webpage and I am able to print/scan/fax from there but it has to be printed through ePrint first.  I also cannot scan from either computer to scanner or sanner to computer.  Every direct print job that I perform errors out and then cancels itself.  oddly, the ip address the software first gave to the printer was the same as my router's ip address.  When i looked on the printer's window under wireless, it had a different ip address listed which i noted and updated the software with the correct ip address but it still can not communicate with each other.

Hummm, ok.  Let's make sure you don't have any IP issues.   Perform the following and then check and reinstall the software once again after the below has been done.

These settings are for setting up your wireless printer to stay connected to your router, keep wireless devices better connected and make your router secure and hack proof.

1. Set a static IP in the printer (click here) outside the DHCP range of the router (check your manual).

This is for Linksys routers but can be used for all routers.  Verify your DHCP range and change this

first if needed.  More Wireless Printing help is here.

2. Verify in the printer that 'Auto Off' is disabled.  Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) by going to the

printers IP address in your browsers address bar, click  Settings Tab/Auto Off.  Or use the Printer

    Assistant, Printer Home Page (EWS).

In the router:  (Refer to your router manual for information)

3. Use a fixed wireless channel like 1, 6 or 11, never 'auto', try channel 1 first then the rest.

4. Set router to 20Mhz only, or 145Mbps depending on router.

5. Always use WPA2-AES (Personal) encryption, but you can try ‘mixed’ mode.

6. Disable WPS and never use it and disable UPnP for the routers security.  Nobody can hack your

system now and helps with wireless connectivity (if you want to know why, search the web).

7. If you have a dual band router (2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz bands), make sure the SSID’s are NOT the same,

they must be different for all bands, even for any Guest networks.

8. Save all settings.  Power off both, wait 2 mins.  Power on router wait 2 mins.

9. Power on printer and verify it reconnects to router.

Windows 7/8/8.1   Is Network Discovery on or off?

  1. Control Panel/Network and Internet/Network and Sharing Center/Advanced sharing settings.

  2. Under Home or Work (current profile) / Network Discovery.

  3. Select "Turn on network discovery" and save changes.

- My printer (HP OfficeJet 4630) doesn't have an "auto off" feature.

- I am able to set a static IP in the printer that is outside the DHCP range of the router however I am unable to configure the port setting.  I receive this error message:  An error occurred during port configuration.  Operation could not be completed (error 0x0000007b).

- I am on a fixed wireless channel (10) within my router.

- I am unable to set my router to 20Mhz only or 145Mbps as suggested.  I don't see that option anywhere.

- I always use WPA2-AES (Personal).

- My router doesn't support WPS.

- No dual band.

- Rebooted

Network Discovery is on

- Still can not connect to printer

Make and model of router?  Try another channel, use channel 1 then 6.
