I get a scan to computer error when I plug my ethernet cable into my laptop. Since my printer is connected wirelessly, I cannot print unless I unplug my ethernet. Is there anyway to resolve this isssue?

Hi @dbrhino,

Welcome to the HP community.  A very good day to you. 🙂 I read the post regarding scan to computer error when an  Ethernet cable is plugged into the notebook as the printer is on a wireless network. It will be a delight to assist you. 🙂

Awesome description and very smart diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you on that score. 🙂  .  You are an important HP customer and it is a privilege to share this platform with you. 🙂

I need to keep you informed that HP printers are designed in such a way, that you could hook it up either on a wired network or a wireless network. It cannot work at the same time on both.

However, you could have a computer hooked up to the printer to a wireless network and use a USB connection simultaneously instead of a Hardwired Ethernet connection.

I will include the user guide of this printer that will be helpful and gives you a lot of useful information about the product. Link: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04783165

Hope this helps.  Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. 🙂  Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you. 🙂
