I am trying to use the scan to computer option.  The scanner refers me to activate this from my computer and I don't have the software and can't find it anywhere...

This site has referred me everwhere and in circles.  The support center has only notified me that I am not under warranty...I KNOW THAT!  How do I get the software?  Thats all I want.../cry

Tia.

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP forum.

Can you download and install the FULL feature printer software from HP for your operating system:

http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/identify?q=8500+pro&tool=s-002#Z7_3054ICK0K8UDA0AQC1...

Please select your correct Printer model, Win 10 operatings system and FULL feature software before downloading and installing.

Once you have downloaded and installed the FULL feature software, you will be able to print and scan.

How to Scan to Computer

In order to scan from Printer to Computer, you would need to install the Full feature Printer software first.
Once you have installed the software,

1. Click on the printer Icon (on your desktop) and it will bring up the HP Printer Assistant.
2. Under the Scan menu, there is a "Manage Scan to Computer", click on that.
3. Make sure that you "Enable" the Scan to Computer. Also make sure the tab "Automatically start Scan to Computer when i log on to Windows" is check if you want to have this feature permanent. (an example is shown below)

Hope that helps.

I was able to install the program, set up a folder, go to the printer and scan to the folder, everthing except its unreadable.

How can I fix this?

Thanks.

PS, if I line the document up on the glass and scan from the computer it goes to a folder called my scans and is fine/readable or if I scan to a device.  The only problem is as I described above.
