I've recently upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 Pro. I lost connectivity to my Officejet Pro 8600. When I try to reinstall using the HP CD, the system does not recognize that the USB cable is plugged in. The cable I'm using (which came with the printer) is not under any strain, so I do not believe the USB cable is faulty. How can I fix this? Thank you!

Hi @ThreeofSeven,
Welcome to the HP forum.
I understand that you have recently upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 Pro and when you are trying to install using the installation disc that came with the printer it is not recognizing the attached USB cable. I would like to help you with that.
I would start by uninstalling any previously installed HP Officejet Pro 8600 software and drivers.
1. If your printer is connected to the computer with a USB cable, disconnect the cable from the printer.
2. Search Windows for Uninstall a program, and then click the Uninstall a program Control Panel setting in the list of results.
3. In the list of installed programs, click your HP printer name, and then click Uninstall or Yes to confirm the uninstall.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the software removal.
5. Restart the computer.
Next, use the HP Printer Install Wizard to install the most recent version of the software and drivers for your printer. Note: wait until prompted to connect the USB cable.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.
