Dropped off again. Print job in queue. Error - offline. Shut the printer off and turn it back on and the job prints. This is ridiculous. Guess I'm going to just have to connect with USB if I want to get work done.

The 8600 continues to be a huge headache and HP appears to be unwilling to provide a solution for this connectivity issue. I can't afford to spend most of my day trying to get the printer to work and so I will most likely move onto a new printer and never, ever, ever purchase another HP product--ever. ;With all of the posts over the past year on this issue, it is inconceivable that Hp is not taking any action. I simply refuse to go in and change IP addresses and such everytime I need to print a document. Any other ideas?

I have to say it's disheartening to read this thread having just purchased my new HP printer. I may have two problems that will become clear as I troubleshoort further.
1. after a undetermined amount of time, the printer not responding without a reboot
2. my internet connection stops working (without actually dropping connection at the router).
Second problem first....as soon as this printer was installed, I'd lose access (but not connection) to the Rogers network, which required me to reboot my rogers router a few times a day. By lose I mean, the wifi was there, the connections remained up according to the router but the browsing wouldn't work. I have changed the Rogers router and was using Linksys for wifi as well, all had the same problem. In troubleshooting we know that Rogers could access my systems but I couldn't access theirs. I could ping their router (at the locally POP?) but not the DNS server. A quick reboot solves it for a while. Rogers added a secondary DNS server to the router and it made no difference.
First problem...same as others. Go to print and it doesn't...i cycle the printer and it works.

This is just a work around which has resolved network connection many a times before. Consult your router service provider and change the channel to 11.. Change the ip address of the printer manually save it. Go the printer properties and add a port, select standard tcp/ip port, instead of the printer ip address enter the host name of the printer which you can find in the printer configuration page. save it restart all the devices to make sure everything is working fine. You can try this to resolve the issue
