So I have the same issue and I took the printhead out and put it down into water for five minutes.  I saw a beautiful array of color ink come out into the water along with some black chunks so I was delighted with hope that it might actually solve my never ending issue!  When I dried it off and put it back in the printer, I was so excited to see a one page invoice print out beautifully.  I am covered in ink and have been for days now.... I was so excited I didn't even care about my ink covered clothes UNTIL!!! I printed a multiple page document.... The first page that came out was beautiful, the second was an abysmal failure... the third, almost completely white.  I took the printhead back out and looked inside the printer only to find a whole bunch of black ink sprayed all over the right side where I believe the printhead rests when it's not "busy".  I have no idea if this is from today or from yesterday or from the past 6 months.... Can anyone please help me before I throw this printer in the pool!!!!!!

That area is called a ink well & it is used when a cleaning cycle is performed on the print head.

If you print a test page do you see any colors?

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion I was having the same issue with my HP 8600 printer-heads. I soaked it in very warm water and now they're like new. I would recommend this to anyone having this issue.

I should probably post that I had contacted HP even though the printer was out of warranty.  I think what saved me, was that I was able to pull up my print total, which I think was just over 1,000.  Obviously a very small amout of printing was done for the time period.  They were able to send me a new printhead, with instructions on how to replace, and pre-paid envelope to send the old one back.  Knock on wood, no issues since then, and I know I have printed a lot more during that time with no issues.

Good Morning ,

Would you be kind enough to let me know how to find the  Print Total. I am struggling with replacement print heads and HP. I would like to know my Print Total and call HP again.

Thank you

Bo

8 olives advice works! I may have to try again when I have time as the Magenta head is still not printing without lines; otherwise light and day! Thank you

I tried clicking on your link(?), "HP YouTube vide0" and nothing.

Did you forget to make it a link?

Try rinsing out the printhead ports with warm water. Make sure you dry the printhead throughly. Install it the printhead and then the cartridges. It will take about 4 minutes to fill the printhead with ink. Hope this helps

Rinsing the printer heads didn't help me. Since it cost almost as much as a new printer; I purchased a new one.
