Hi @Phil_Ramsey,
I see by your post that you are unable to setup the printer on the wireless network. I can help you with this.
Please provide more information on your network setup. Since you aren't using a router.
In the mean time follow the steps in this document for the Wireless printing center.
Select Your printer has never worked over the network.
When you run the Wireless Setup Wizard on the printer is it not automatically finding the network and automatically providing a Static IP or are you putting in a Static IP? (that could be the issue)
Can you ping the printer?
Hold down the Windows Logo key () on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the run box,
Make sure they are on the same subnet mask.
Type in cmd, then type ipconfig.
Check the IP address for the computer and the subnet mask.
Now check the IP address for the printer.
Do the first 3 sets of numbers match?
Try and ping the printer.
In the same window, type ping printers IP address (space between ping and IP address)
What are the results?
Since the printer is already setup on the USB connection, run the Printer Setup & Software install wizard.
Open the Officejet 8610 Printer Assistant software from the Apps. Then click on Utilities icon, then Printer Setup & Software, then select Convert a USB connected printer to wireless.
Here is a document for setting up the network.
Installing the Printer Software on a Wireless or Wired (Ethernet) Network Connection.
Please provide in detail the results.
Have a nice day!
Thank You.
