My in-laws have and Officejet Pro 8610. One of them set it for two-sided while in copy mode and now copies come out blank. Printing is fine. Can't undo the problem and default it back to one-sided. I've restarted, reset and re-installed printer but nothing works. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Hello, @mrwahoo – Hope you are well 🙂
Thanks for your continued participation on the HP Forums! I came across your post about the copy issue on your 8610 printer and wanted to share my suggestions with you!
First off, let’s try resetting the copy settings to 1-sided copy. Here are the steps:
- While in the Copy menu, touch
or Settings and then scroll up or down to select among settings.
- Touch 2-sided and then select the option to change it to 1-sided or turn off the 2-sided.
- Now, scroll down and touch Set As New Defaults.
- Now try making a copy and check.
Those steps should do the trick, let me know the outcome!
Good luck 🙂

Thanks everyone. However, when we try to scan the scanner light does not track across the glass, which makes me think we have hardware problem instead of a software problem. That said, concerned about trying to fix it without spending a fortune. If it's broke, it's broke. Any thoughts about repairing it on the cheap? I'm sure it's past warranty, of course. Dissapointing since it's only 2 years old.

Hello, @mrwahoo
It looks like a scanner mechanism failure like you pointed out. Before replacing the printer, try performing a power drain on the printer. This helps to resolve most of the scanner-related issue. Here are the steps:
· With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
· Remove USB cable, if present.
· Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
· Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
· Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle and then try making a copy/scan.
If the copy is still not working then please contact the HP phone support top get the printer serviced or for a possible upgrade.
You can visit http://www.support.hp.com/contact-hp and fill in your product details to get the tech support number.
(1) Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.
(2) Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.
(3) Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.
(4) Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
If you have any troubles, let me know and I will do my best to help!
Cheers 🙂
