I just bought this printer, based on previous positive experience with HP printers.
Not one single set up for my printer works on my Mac. It will not recognize my email set up. It will not recognize my computer for scan to computer or network folder. I downloaded the Easy Scan and HP Utility twice. All I get are error messages.
How in the world in the 21 Century does one get help?

Hello, @JakeDellon – Greetings!
Thank you for becoming an HP Forum member. It is a great location to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others.
I see that you are having issues while using the new Officejet 8720 printer. Try the steps below:
- Uninstall the printer drivers first. Follow the steps mentioned here: http://hp.care/2cKwLyC
- Now update the drivers on MAC OS using the Apple Software Update. Check here for steps: http://hp.care/2cNgw3C
- Restart your computer and printer.
- Now go to http://hp.care/2eA7Sof and download and install HP Easy start. That will help you install the new printer drivers for MAC 10.12.
- In the “Add printer” window, make sure you add the printer as mentioned below:
- Click the “Add button” (+).
- Find, and then select the name of your printer from the printer list, and then click “Add” to add your printer.
- Click “Print Using...”, and then select the name of your printer (By default “Airprint” would be selected)
Also. Check http://hp.care/2e0ZCCy for more detailed steps on how to setup the scan to email feature.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.
Cheers 🙂

Originally, I followed the set up step by step and at the end, when I clicked Scan to Computer, I got the same error message "software not installed." I find this interesting as it "the" software telling me it's not installed.
I deleted everything HP in my system and tried again. This time the Easy Start went through only three screens, sent me online and said "Finished." Nothing installed, again, absolutely nothing installed.
I am able use the print/scan menus in the Mac system preferences, but will not be able to take advantage of the various options with this printer. This makes for a very expensive basic printer, I could have paid half the price to get limited functions.

Hello @JakeDellon,
Appreciate your efforts.
I am sure the printer must be able to use the full features that come with the printer drivers. I would suggest you contact HP Phone support for further assistance. You can visit http://www.support.hp.com/contact-hp and fill in your product details to get the tech support number.
Visit us again if you have any concerns! Thank you!
Cheers 🙂
