officejet pro 8720
macOS 10.12 Sierra

My wife reported that our officejet pro 8720 stopped printing in duplex mode recently. I re-ran easy setup and the problem persisted. I removed the printer and addeded it again via bonjour as "Secure Airprint". Duplex works when set up this way, even though it reports using version 2.0 drivers.

I set up the printer again selecting the full all in one drivers in the dialog, getting the 4.30 version number in the print queue screen. That copy of the printer fails to print duplex.

Is something wrong with the current version of the fancy drivers for this printer? Why does it duplex set up as airprint but not with the HP-provided drivers?

Thanks

Hi @jkebinger,

Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that you are unable to print one sided from your HP e-All-in-One Printer.

This issue could occur if the print settings are not correct.

Let's go through a few steps to resolve this issue.

And here's the step by step guide listed below:

  1. Choose File from Menu Bar.
  2. Select Print.
  3. Choose a Printer. Click the Arrows Next to "Printer" to see other available printers.
  4. Click on the Copies and Pages drop-down menu.
  5. Select Layout.
  6. Locate Two-Sided in the Layout window. Choose Off. (It will be dimmed if the chosen printer doesn't allow two-sided printing).
  7. Click Print to print your document.

Let me know how this works.

You have a good day ahead.

This is not a problem with print settings: the same print settings (two sided, long edge binding) produce single sided printouts on the 4.3 version of the drivers and double sided printouts on the OSX-included 2.0 version of the drivers. Please re-read my original post for the details, thanks

Hi @jkebinger,

Thank you for your reply, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that the issue still persists 4.3 version of the drivers.

You may try 2.6 version of driver for MAC from the link: http://hp.care/2rjSAdH

Let me know if this works.

You have a good day ahead.
