Here's the forced fix I have read in a few different places now. This link provided earlier by Inorga is the best link I have seen thus far. The pictures are amazing and should be helpful. Again, be careful, do not force open anything and good luck.

Let me know how it goes.

VisionAiry - I will review the link and try the fix this evening. I direct my request to you based on your work with "Chris" back a couple pages in this thread ( dated: 06-13-2013 06:46 PM ). Curious: is this the same fix you sent ( privatly ) to Chris ?
Thanks in advance - I'll follow-up with status......

VisionAiry - This solution ( from the link you posted ) WORKED PERFECTLY !!! The printer came back up with the known expired ( but newly opened ) cartridge(s) without as much as a whimper !!!
I came across a suggestion in the blog within which those instructions reside that said to slip a piece of heavy plastic film between the battery and the retaining clip in order to break contact and drain the circuit as opposed to prying the clip up enough to remove the battery - this eliminates the risk of breaking the retaining clip off !
I would say to all who travel this route to use the above approach to disconnecting the battery and that the panels WILL come off - just be careful and use steady preasure once prying loose the clips ( follow VisionAiry's link - you'll see what I mean ).
Thank you so much for the help !!!!!
Post Post Script: I've left the panels off so I can reset virtually at will going forward ( I'm not concerned about the asthetics ).

That is great news! I'm so glad to hear that! I really like your additional side note about just seperating the connection from between the battery and the contact. Thanks for coming back to the forums and letting me know what worked!!
Happy Flawless Printing!
