I'm trying to connect to a P1102w printer installed on a network and the Add Printer function states that it needs the .INF file. The printer is shared on a Vista computer and connected via USB. I have not been able to get wireless to work in any way.

You have not explained your network setup I think.

Please diagram your complete network setup showing all connections and equipment please.

Go here and download the full featured software and drivers for the OS you need.

Thanks. I had that file and used it on my own computer. The message is generated on my wife's computer who is trying to connect over our home network. I'd rather not install the entire package on her machine just so she can connect and print. I've never had to do that in the past.

Can I use a basic driver just for printing?

HP Recommended

Yes go ahead.  But if you have issues install the full version.

Unfortunately I am unable to find a basic driver on hp.com. The only basic driver is an update, which asks for the original driver to be installed first.

However, upon further inspection, the error I receive when trying to add the printer to a network connected machine is "The server for the 'HP LaserJet Professional P 1102w' printer does not have the correct printer driver installed." Since I installed the latest package, I am confused.

Also, I purchased the printer so that I could print wirelessly but I can't get the printer to see any networks. Any help on this or should I initiate a separate post?

Have you or have you not installed the full featured software and drivers??

HP Recommended

I installed the full featured package on the machine with the printer attached via USB cable. I can print fine on that host machine. I'm trying to connect to that computer from another machine. Both computers are 64-bit running Windows Vista.

Thanks for your help. Sice this was a brand new printer I chatted with tech support and he decided to delete the printer and begin a brand new install. The differnce was that he installed first as a wireless installation rather than a USB one. The printer works fine. However I still have a problem with my wife's computer trying to print over the network. I receive a Printer install failed, error 0x00000643.

This may be due to my configuration; My principal computer is connected by wirelessly and via coax. I'm goping to try and eliminate the coax connection and see if the problem disappears.

I also need JUST the driver not the full software suite for this printer.  I am trying to install it on a machine we use for remote desktop so the printer is NOT physically attached and the software is asking for it to be attached.  I need JUST the driver but can't seem to find it ANYWHERE.  Can anyone help???
