I have seen this fault on 2 HP p2035 printers.
After fitting a new genuine toner cartridge the printer shows a constant error , solid orange lamp by the ! symbol.
When I check this error code in the utility it says Invalid Combination.
When connected to PC device manager shows Unrecognised device.
I have tried factory re-set & re-installing drivers, no success.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hello @AllanW
Here it is the explanation from the error on this light
Manual Feed or Continuable Error
This state can be reached in the following
circumstances:
● Manual feed
● General continuable error
● Memory configuration error
● Personality/Job related error
To recover from the error and print
whatever data is possible, press the Go
button.
If the recovery is successful, the product
goes to the Processing Data state and
completes the job.
If the recovery is unsuccessful, the
product returns to the Continuable Error
state.
Just to confirm the reset you perform it will need to go like this
For HP LaserJet P2030 Series Printers, restore defaults by pressing and holding the Go button
and Cancel button for 10 seconds while turning on the product.
Off course since its a new toner you want to make sure that you pull it out and make sure that you have no shipping locks or materials usually orange color
The problem may be with the toner so you want to make sure that you try a different even and old one to see if the situation persists

I am having the exact same issue. There are some new HP toner cartridges that will not work in our HP P2035 laser printers.
I have currently gone through 3 different toner cartridges that did not work; they all gave the same issue as originally described: the printer shows as off-line to the computer and the solid orange light is on on the printer.
The original post went through the steps you provided; is there anything else that can be done? Can these cartridges be replaced by HP? i kept trying new cartridges until one was recognized by the printers (I have had the issue on all my HP P2035 printers that I have tried). I know it is something with the cartridge(s) themselves as I tried 2 bad ones in 4 different P2035 printers and got the same results; orange light and printer off-line message on computer.
Help is appreciated.

I am having the same problem with 2 different printers.
Both of them are showing an error when I replace the cartridge and I am loathe to go through a whole series of cartridges to find one that works.
Cleary a HP problem

I am currently working with HP and their distributor that I purchased the toner from. There was a bad batch of cartridges; I am trying to get mine returned and replaced. Keep your toner and proof of purchase so you can do the same.

One more piece of information, we have a P2055Dn printer, which is the same family as the P2035 and uses the same cartridge.
If we put a new cartridge in this one it comes up with a "unsupported cartridge" error.
This printer will use the cartridge once you press enter.
